How to build a barnwood executive desk
I’ve been needing a new desk for some time now. For years I’ve used a cheap, L-shape desk made out of particle board. I decided to use some barnwood I have collected for this build. The first step was to draw up how I wanted to build this barnwood desk and figure out the length, width, and thickness of each part of the desk. Once I had it drawn up and a cut list made, I went through the boards and labeled which piece would come from each board.
Two of the boards that I had were 11.5 inches wide, 10’ long, and 2.5” thick. I decided that most of the boards for the desktop would come from these so I cut them a few inches longer than I wanted the desktop to be with my track saw. Then I took the boards over to the bandsaw to resaw them leaving a little wiggle room for the milling process. The other piece I would use to make panels for the sides and back of the desk.
